Driving from Ireland, Asturias is not far than Barcelona, if you drive through France. But there's a Boat from Plymouth that goes directly to the area I've visited.

As you see, the north of Spain: Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and Basque Country, is quite "green" and "wet", and there are lots of cultural and gaelic connenctions with Ireland.
