Colm, I would ask you to reconsider, or at least assist in a handover.

There are a lot of guys, me included, who enjoy the forum and website and maybe there is someone out there with the know how to keep this thing going...it's not all bad surely. :? :?

I would ask all members to state their position as to whether or not they want this forum and website to continue or not.

I, for one, want it to continue, and if a contribution is required.. so be it.

Good luck

John

This should not be allowed implode!

I'd be more then happy to assist in any way possible.
I think we need an AGM. And I'm sure even saying AGM will agitate a few. But it simply needs to be done. We NEED structure. one administrator, one webmaster etc....... a small annual fee is not that much of an issue...... or at least I dont think it is!
Hows about combining a meet with the Northern Ireland Run.

Anyone who gives a s*** will turn up!

Ok guys here is my take on this...

Somehow posts were deleted...How did it happen ? Did somebody with admin rights ACT THE MAGGOTT AND delete them ? then if that is the case WHY?
If not then I GUESS SHIT HAPPENED..we can get over it NO BIG DEAL
Also from what I can gather admin rights have now been revoked so going forward this will not happen again..provided we are happy with the ADMIN ( Which I personally am )
I used to be a member of http://www.dublinkiteclub.org/ have a look at what happened to that...do we want that to happen to us ?
Time out is called for and a small bit of calm should descend..
The root cause ( Good old six sigma ) needs to be identified and communicated to all members together with the fix ! . Then all should bury any feelings and nobody and I mean NOBODY should have to apoligise to ANYONE... this is the beauty of this club we are all allowed to say what we want FULL STOP !!

Remember why we are here its all quite simple really
" ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM "
Does anyone agree with me ??????????????????????

WTF......

How did this happen? I know I'm relatively new to the site but I had the impression that most of the regular posters (is that the correct word?) knew each other through meets etc. - so where did all the in-fighting/negativity come from? We got pruned through some mishap..... but that shouldn't detract from the main reason we are here - to enjoy, spread the word, and share the love of, the MX5! Clearly there is a difference of opinion on how the site should operate - and I don't know if there is a "correct" way to do it. It's great that folk take on admin duties to assist with the overall operation of the site - but if things go a bit belly up it needn't be as divisive as it appears to be. Maybe it will take someone brave enough to take on sole operation - receive the "glory" of runing the site as well as the flak when things don't go so smoothly.

I think the notion of an "AGM" isn't a bad idea - but given the structure of how this site is run, I can see that leading to difficulties too.....who will organise a venue?....who will chair the meeting? - will we agree to abide by (any) decisions that are arrived at?...how many people will (can) make the effort to attend?.....will we get too pissed to care?!

And finally.........Colm, I've no idea of the time and effort you put in to setting up and organising the site initially (and at present) - but I appreciate it. The fact it is "local" is a major bonus, in that we can talk about runs etc. that will be familiar to others - or at least are not too difficult to get to and experience (given the size of Ireland), as well as sharing information and skills with other like minded folk, and I think it would be a pity to loose that.

We gotta get our feet of the brake and back on the Zoom-Zoom pedal.

Hi guys, long time reader first time poster......not really but you get my drift

It's all a bit strange, I don't contribute much to the form or the yahoo mailing list, but I'd be sure I've probably read nearly every post on both, just because I don't say much doesn't mean I don't find them helpful, I'd say before I bought my car I spent time going through the yahoo groups mail thing, getting all the information i needed, and if it wasn't there i could ask the question and get a reply...........

It seems sad that it's going this way................I enjoyed reading about all the technical stuff thought that someday i'll get round to doing all the necessary things to my car..........(someday)..........

If all this goes under I know I will miss the banter and the info..............

I agree with mise1962, mrges and well_gurl........
I think we all benefit from this site in our own way...
simple fix. one person with admin rights, it shouldn't need to be touched apart from updates etc.....
Between comments removed and comments after being made, forget it all move on and lets starting talking fives :D
Although I would say whoever has admin rights, once this topic has died down, maybe after a week or two to allow people have their say, remove it, its damaging to the club and the hope of attracting new members.

Hi all, I'm new to the club. I enjoy reading the posts; I read most of them of interest to me. I'd hate to see the club "die", it seemed like such a good idea for folks to chat and help each other out. I used to read the posts here before I got my Famous5.......and from reading the posts I decided to take the leap of faith, dispose of my family estate, and buy a little 5. I'd like to hit off on a spin with a group of 5 fans, enjoy grub, have a few drinks and swap tech tips with the 5 Masters. I wouldn’t mind paying a yearly fee if required to keep software updated.
As for the missing posts, I have only one thought "To error is human, to really F##k up you need a computer!". So if there was a mistake or a glitch in software, it has happened lets just move on and look forward to all getting topless at some point in the summer.
Well that’s my 5 cents worth.

Looking at the member list, it looks like the forum will end up suffocating under the sheer number of spammers if nobody is deleting them.. pity
