Busy Day today..
1. Engine oil changed.
2. Gear Box oil changed.
3. Rust on the boot lid sorted.
4. Tried to change the diff oil but didn't have a 23mm socket. (WTF!!) Why 23mm?
5. Cleaned and undersealed the passenger side under carriage.
6. Fitted a chassis rail to the passenger side.

Phew!! After all that I had to go play a match.

Few beers me thinks.

Yeah it was a real big day and I loved every bit of it. Collecting some Koni coilovers for Robert next week looking forward to fitting them.
The chassis rail was easy fitting until I was under the car with the rail held up with one hand and all the bolts lined up, I reach for a nut and go to put one and it's too big...Argh!!! WTF!! No bother though I had other ones there that fitted. :D

Passenger side was easy but I'd say the drivers side will be a bit more of a challenge..

Well done
For the drivers side the main thing is to consider the brake and fuel lines , remove the brackets holding them on ,even the ones past the rail and that will allow you to slip the ss rail under the lines , then fit like the passenger side refitting the brackets to the new ss rails using self tapping screws ,might be worth pre drilling for these as it makes it a lot easier while on your back under the car !
To get the brackets back on to the lines I find the a bit of greese on the plastic parts really help .
If you need a 23 mm spanner I think I have one , I'll be back at home next weekend , give a shout if your stuck
Best of luck with the work

had another hack at the caliper (nothing to loose)

Got the remains of the old bleed screw out with a bit of cursing :

And another bleed screw in :

Put it back on the car and as expected... it leaked. Meh, at least I can put the car back on the ground now while I'm waiting for the new one.

Hi Steve.. why not try sealing it cement glue. That 2 pack stuff that hardens like metal. If the caliper is fubar anyway, it's worth a try.

Brakes, tyres, wheel nuts are all very important things on the car imo. Sometimes a diy fix just not worth it.

Yeah you would not be able to open it again. I was thinking it would tide you over till you got the new caliper. If it's leaks brake oil onto the pads they will be fubar also.
