Nice! I think the rest of the day is looking pretty good, Steve! Have you looked into all of the sides? Remember I just did front left because it was seized and after a while had to do the other side for the same reason...and now think the rears giving trouble...good idea get it done in one go or same axle least...lesson learned haha..

didn't get round to putting it on yet... Sat at the latest, weather looking great for the next few days.
Yeah, I'll be taking the other side apart too for a clean up/seal replacement, its been working fine though.
I've a feeling the front passenger side is dragging a bit too.

How do you know if your calipers need to have work done. What are the tell tale signs?

I first noticed mine was dragging when in stop/start traffic... it wasn't rolling smoothly to a stop, it would "grab" just before the car stopped. Also felt like the car was down on power a little bit. Checking the temp of the outside of your alloy compared to the others will tell you soon enough too.
Also, when braking, it can pull a little to one side.

Thanks Steve.. All my wheels turn freely when up on stands but I do notice my car pulling when braking.

My experience if you haven't done brakes yourself they need to be done! Most common problem I find are the slider pins get seized because most of them would be greased with copper or similar anti seize stuff. Within time from dirt this usually turns into solid gunk and stops them from moving, dries out rubber etc. Use red rubber grease(RRG)!

Thanks as usual for the great advise Devis. . Today I changed the soft top for a new (to me) one that I got off Robert (autocheck). Took about 4 hrs with some ocd cleaning.

new caliper on, car back on the ground and v.happy to see the new spring didn't drop the rear more than where it was previously.
Need to do the other side this eve/over the weekend.

got the other side finished yesterday evening, it sits pretty much exactly where I'd hoped it would.

The culprit :

Also started on the non-MX5 project. It needs a rewire, so out with the dash/gauges :

Sounds like you've been busy !
Try using a good releasing oil , I find worth "rost off " to be great ,hard to find ,I got mine in Bradshaws in port laois .
Worth also have a retail outlet in Limerick dock road I think . I really find wd40 unless for this type of task
Good luck
