Looks good... did you cook it in the oven to cure it?

No I used a heat gun on it, heated the cover before I painted it and then kept going over it with the heat gun for about 40 mins after I painted it, the key to getting a good wrinkle finish is 3 good thick coats

That wrinkle paint looks great Peteh , you got an excellent finish . Well done .

Just back for. The NCT with the mk2 and it passed :)
They never tested the brakes for a second year in a row , is it because the car has an LSD ? LSD equipped cars don't need brakes !
Anyway will be taxing it form may so roll on the summer
On the subject of taxing the car on May the first , a Sunday this year , can I do it on line even though the car has been declared off the road since October ?
I want tax for the May bank holiday weekend but the tax office will be closed and no tax disc until the middle of the next week ! As I understand it they won't allow me taw the car on the previous Friday for May as its still in April .
They do t make it easy yo be on the right side of the law do they ?
Am I correct in assuming that as will as not having road tax it's also an offence to not display your road tax disc ?
Also WHY ARE WE PAYING ROAD TAX

yep, I wait for the guy testing my car to come out to get it and tell him it has an LSD. I don't want things going crunchy. I'm led to believe they are supposed to use a gyroscope type thing to measure brake performance but have never seen it being used.

Tax, I'd do it on Sunday and have the receipt emailed to yourself (did you upgrade your pager yet? ;-) ) so you can produce if asked. They'd have to be very cranky to give you stick over it.

Thanks for that Steve
I meant to tell the technician about the lsd but forgot  presume he know himself
Ya the plan is to tax online on Sunday morning and take a printout of the conformation email , I had this out with the tax office and they didn't know what the answer was , they just assumed I was simply being difficult
The car seems to run very well without it :D

Torsen LSD wont make any difference to Brake testing lads.

Did a few very simple bits'n'bobs earlier.....

Fited new set of wiper blades:

Noticed Right door speaker wasn't working - so explored. Turns out wires weren't connected!

So added connectors

Speaker 3.jpg

Don't have any heat shrink..... so good old insulating tape:

The tax disc holder had seen better days, so a new one added:

Finally, connected phone to stereo:

Nothing too dramatic.... but helped me get acquainted with the car!

Put in an order for a K&N air filter today...somehow I think this is just the start of the "ah I'll just buy the one bit for the mx5"... :D

Nice looking car the mk3 , well wear .
Keep a very close eye on the oil level in those cars , I think one of the "mods" owners do is to replace the dip stick on the mk3 for one from the Later 3.5 as it is apparently easier to read , I don't know this for a fact or even the part number as I don't own a mk3 so would be worth hearing it from somebody else , a post on here or on nutz referring to this would be well worth it
Best of luck with it

I washed mine for the Portloaise run tomorrow. Was dusty and dirty after 6 months hibernation. Hot to trot now :)

Oil, filters and plugs changed yesterday. Used an engine flush before changing the oil and no more tappety noise. A wee run to Downings today to blow away the cob-webs after 2yrs in the garage. Tried to tax yesterday on-line but not possible so i'll be first in line tomorrow morning. We should be given a pin number when we declare them off the road to be able to tax them again. Here's to a busy summer including a trip to Kilbroney

did you still have your old notice? I think the pin number will still work...I did it before after the car was declared off road for a few months and the old pin was still active.....
