Re: What did you do to your MX5 today ?Fixed the drivers window
It had been painfully slow, and only making it about half way down, Then stopped doing anything - so decided I try sort it out this evening. Removed door fittings and felt around for broken cables, but nothing seemed obviously amiss, so out with the glass..... which (not unsurprisingly) was rather manky below the door line. The guide was covered in lumpy, hard grease - which was cleaned off then re-lubed (using silicon grease). Removed the rear runner, which was dry and had a lot of old hard grease. Again, cleaned it up and regreased it. Then decided just to go the whole hog, so out came the mechanism and am glad I did as it was dry and a tad sticky. Again, re-greased and rubbed in some graphite powder over the cables. Finally cleaned up the window and fitted everything back together again, and ............ it worked - I now have a drivers window that goes down and up when I press the switch. It still ain't super fast, but it's smooth and useable. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: What did you do to your MX5 today ?Good work ! That's a job I've had to do many times. I since bought new spurious regulators from Robert and they are great - smooth and quick.

Re: What did you do to your MX5 today ?I think longer term replacing the original system may be the preferred option. When I last spoke with Robert (picking up the strut braces) he unfortunately had none available. I looked online..... they ain't cheap!!!
Any way, for the moment all is going well
Re: What did you do to your MX5 today ?
I only replaced mine when they previous older ones failed (snapped cables). Otherwise, I'd drive on with the originals if they are working ! 1992 Eunos Roadster BRG V-Spec 1.6
Re: What did you do to your MX5 today ?Took another few hours at the 5 this evening......
Removed trim, and popped out seatbelts. (evidence of lots of spider activity in the cavities..... which made it fun putting my hand in there to give it a good clean out). Almost there - just to straighten up and tighten bolts (then replace belts and trim). Getting the washer/nut onto the bolt inside the seat belt cavity was a right pain in the butt). All finished. Really pleased with how it looks. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: What did you do to your MX5 today ?I see you got the brace fitted, be interesting if you notice any difference. Did you get a look inside the quarter panel while the trim was off
Re: What did you do to your MX5 today ?That reminds me of some interior work that I done over the summer. I bought a nice mohair roof and frame from Robert earlier in the year so while I was fitting
it, I took the opportunity to remove the style bar, wind deflector and seats in order to clean the carpet the best I could. I reinstalled the retractable wind deflector but left the style bar off. I had removed the rear carpets so as they could dry out in the sun. 1992 Eunos Roadster BRG V-Spec 1.6
