Bunch of friends took part in a 'Santa Splash' on Sunday, jumping into the sea at Seapoint in Dublin, to raise funds for the Hope Foundation and street kids in Calcutta... ![]() Re: BrrrrDriving to Belfast on the 24th, some nasty crap going on on the M50 - no sign of gritters. Lots of cars spinning - the middle lane seems to be the most popular for people wanting to tailgate and dance on their brake pedals often.
Lots of abandoned cars on the M1 - most undamaged so I guess they just ran out of fuel or got stuck. The only wrecks I saw were a Vauxhall Insignia on fire on the M50 (presents and belongings strewn on the hard-shoulder ![]() ![]() ![]() It's a small world after all. It's a small, small world

![]() Re: BrrrrMy two older brothers live in Norway and Sweden.I have visited both countries regularly the last few years beautiful places. The winters up there are hard and I have experienced temperatures of -25 in northern norway.I have driven in norway using studded snow tyres grip is awesome but slow.
They believe driving in summer tyres in snow conditions is suicidal and some of the driving I have seen on the roads the last few days I cant believe how there wasnt more fatalities. Im definitely investing in winter tyres next year as these conditions are here too stay, i was out in -15 at work and it was very similar to temperatures in norway.
Re: Brrrrressurecting an old thread but I also seen that Insignia in flames on the m50. 2010 reg as far as I remember. Any ideas how it could go up in flames like that?
Re: BrrrrNo idea... never heard any more about it myself.
Quite a few electrical fires start with the starter jamming on and overheating the solenoid which causes a dramatic fire in the engine bay. I wonder if that's all it was ? Does the Insignia have stop-start technology ? If so, maybe the starter went nuts what with the very bad traffic jams on the M50 around then :O All supposition of course, but if worked for Sherlock Holmes... It's a small world after all. ![]() Re: BrrrrYeah i thought that myself. The morale of the story is.. buy an mx5:) not known to spontaneously combust and no faffy stop-start tech

Re: BrrrrThe car would have been but the hard-shoulder was littered with burned presents still in their wrapping paper. Absolute mess. So yes, buy an MX5
