Powerwashing (with foam?)

Hey

My husband likes gadgets and bought a powerwasher :) - if I used that to wash my 5 would it damage the paintwork?

I think he's also planning to get a foam 'thingie' for it too, any comments on using one of these? (my driveway is going to look like a foam party, WooHoo everyone invited!! :D)

I would say use the common sense approach...don't have the nozzle of the washer too close to the bodywork and you should be fine.

No Amri don't do it !!!!
There is no pleasure in washing a 5 with that, use a nice sponge and bucket and then a hosepipe !!! Keep the power washer for the 4x4's !!! I've no inclination to wash my Navara the "nice" way that gets the blaster ha ha

Mel :P

haha! No I've done it the 'nice' way many's a time on a sunny Sunday morning!! Unfortunately it takes about 2 hours from start to finish and i'm not always that flush for time :(

I'll make sure to give her a nice rub down with a chamois afterwards though so she doesn't feel to abused :D :D :D

I have to admit to only washing mine when it's filthy which is now as I hit a patch of gravel on Monday and nearly lost my life !!!
My baby is now covered in white dust so I will in a minute, get off my bum and wash it !!! Hopefully no customers will come into the shop and disturb me !! Hope to meet you girls on a run in the future

:P

Been using a power washer on mine for 4 years! As the guys say, just don't get too close with it. It helped strip off my old alloys :(

I have a brush attachment which forces the washer to use a lower pressure. I use that with the foam.. Maybe the same with your foam attachment?

Rinse off with power at a distance and never on the soft top. Autoglym is your only man. Been using it since I had the car and my vinyl roof is still in good nick. Specially before the hard top goes on.

Get some alloy cleaner/ protector too. Having wax on the rims really helps when washing the brake dust among dust in other areas off after scary sliding!

Drive safe. And we will def have to meet up as I'm in Dublin too!

I have a karcher with foam dispenser. Only use it to blast in the wheel arches. All the rest is best done by hand.
