This is just to let everyone know who is even remotely interested that I have now worn the customs office down with several phone calls !!!

I have got my number plates with the correct year and hopefully will receive a refund in the next week !!! I have also told them how to read a UK log book !!

Excellent news Mel, great to hear you eventually got there in the end.

BTW have you looked into getting Classic Insurance for the 5 now that it is over 20yrs old.??
I have mine with Aviva and getting mine for €210...(fully comp) although you may have to have 2nd car policy to get this. Check it out it could be saving you even more euros.....

Thanks A mill !! Was going to see a gold 98 MK 11 tonight but it sold yesterday or this morning was really gutted as I liked it !! Never mind.
I started the refurb on my wheels today and the first one is done it looks lovely really subtle as I really want to keep mine original. It looks like mine and yours are the same ?? Do you know what V special means is it anything to be excited about ?? Did you see the pics of the luggage rack on mine Leamyj said he'd never seen one like it on a 5 before.

Yes the V special is just the Japanese model specification.....ie the V spec has the leather upholstery, air con, electric windows....alot of the UK/Irish older models would not have these.

Yes mine is 91 model and love it to bits..great little car.

I can see your boot rack is unusual, sitting very low on the boot.

Yes it is a funny little luggage rack I suppose it makes mine even more special then ha ha !! Getting on well with the wheels am gonna upload some pics now if my laptop lets me !!

Here is a quick and easy check before the NCT, Jack up the back of the car (chock wheels in front) put it in neutral, see if the back wheels spin, then put on P brake and see if both wheels don't turn. If one does and the other doesn't we can talk
