Hi folks Michael here, im a new member and first time owner of an mx5. I purchased the car from my sister 3 weeks ago and within a week I had BBS style new wheels and some interior bits on order!! I have owned a few different 'fun' cars over the years but must admit there is something addictive about these 5's!! Im looking for advice if anyone can help me. I was given crazy quotes for insurance over the phone last week, prices that couldn't be justified by the 2 or 3 months use the car would get in a year. Any advice or hints on which insurance company to call would be great as at present I am resigned to the fact I will have to sell it. Hi all and thanks in advance.

Thanks again lads. Paschal the number you gave me was for some poor unsuspecting old dear up the country!! She didn't know much about car insurance but id say she made a mean cup of tea I got the number off the link you gave me tho and have just finished up with a quote for €965.00 and that was after speaking to a superviser explaining that I have a company vehicle and would hardly ever be using the MX, dear God. All jokes aside guys if there is anyone looking for a an MX5 make me an offer. Im going to have to insure a micra to build up some NCB, im boiling

FBD dont class it too high. I know that mine was only €600 and that was with no no calims bonus as that was attached to my jeep. Worth giving them a call. I remember when I talked to FBD the girl was suprised it wasnt loaded, being a "sports car" and all. They often load certain makes with percentage increases. Anyways best of luck.

just a note , i got a quote for €259 from 123.ie today , im 32 and i have good no claims but that was still way cheaper than anybody else i spoke to , might be worth checking out
