March 13th deadline?

Lads, not wishing to be the bearer of bad news, but recently Colm stated that he was no longer willing to administer the site and forum after march 13th, which is when the current domain is due for renewal. The website is currently inaccessible.
Can anyone tell me if this situation has changed or are we facing closure? I hope not. :(

To be honest i think Colm is the only one who could answer that at the moment.
I for one really hope that we can carry on as i believe that the club is starting to come around.

There has been a lot of talk about this down south as the club members here appear to be the ones actually 'doing' club meets/tech days/keeping the banter going on the forum etc so perhaps the members in Dublin may be to busy or are a bit sick & tired of it all ?
I do know that there is daily contact on the clubs YahooGroup mailing list and that will always be up and running I think.
If this forum does go down then don't worry, plans are more or less falling into place and/or have been discussed in advance of 'pullin the plug' here.

It's quite simple.

If somebody gets some webspace, puts up a holding page (like the current mx5ireland.com) and installs whatever type of bulletin board they like on it.

I'll then point mx5ireland at that.

I'll send on all the website files, and tons of other stuff that I haven't had a chance to do yet.

All done, no fuss. Everybody's happy.

That's great news Steve, so it's safe to assume that you will be liaising with Colm etc.,

At the risk of jeopardising the casual nature of the club, can I suggest that no-one should be out of pocket in relation to administration costs, and maybe a central fund be initiated? :D

It'll take a few hours to transfer the forum across.
During that time I'll close the forum for new posts.

Don't panic

This is only so I can backup the database and send it to Steve, who will then load it on to the new space. Once there it will reopen and all will be well.

I'll put a message on the front page so everyone can see that it's only temporary

Nice one Colm.
Don't forget to update us on that proposed vintage run in August :)
