Catalytic Convertor?

Postby CashelMX5 » Tue, 29 May 2012 4:24 +0000

Anyone know where I can get my hands on a Catalytic Convertor for a MkII 1.6? I need to have one replaced for NCT re-test.

the cheapest way to replace this is to goto an exhaust centre, get them to cut your old one out and weld in a new one.

on mk2's the cat is part of the midpipe and are seriously expensive new...secondhand..dont do it cos the cat might pack in next week.

I got a pair of cats off this crowd on Ebay, they've been on the car for a year now (8,000 miles) and they've been fine

Thanks Frank,

Had a look and it seems to be the same site as MX5 bits and advert. wording is identical and they give a three year guarantee, which isn't bad. Looks like I'll have to go down that road.

Geez, that mug of tea is lasting a long time :D

Did you fit a cat from mx5bits in the end?

I want to replace everything from the exhaust system but while the silencer/muffler and centre pipes are pretty straightforward, I find all the different cats confusing. The prices and shapes range pretty wildly:
