I recently got my first MX5. Its 1991 and is a 1.6 auto. Appears to be fairly standard apart from the wide wheels. I've got a few parts from ebay since I bought it and have had a Patrol Line alarm/immobiliser fitted. I'm considering buying a new zip type rear plastic Mazda window from MX5parts while the sterling is good for us. I want to try cleaning it first. I live near the Strawberry Hall and hope to make the Wednesday night 'get togethers' down there. To be honest if there's a few going for a cruise I will travel anywhere. Most of all I am looking forward to zooming down the road in a convoy of 5's ! !

Howdi, Looks like a nice motor mate, and an auto to.
Alloys look nice dude, and from that pic pretty fat. What are they? gotta be 15x7's at least.
For your window try this stuff
http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info. ... ts_id/1280
I pretty sure its the stuff Dave got me to try on my rear window last week and the difference is amazing. I didn't believe him to be honest but when he actually tried it...........wow. I'll check with him during the week but 95% sure thats the stuff.
& sean, not saying that i would be 100% certain but i would have thought changing the engine is a fairly easy job!!!!!
If you have a hoist(which you can hire) then it should be a case of unbolt everything lift it out, drop in the new one and reconnect. If you give me enough notice i'll happily come up and lend you a hand.

Welcome aboard. Your car looks great - it looks like a really clean example....and it is 17 years old! Sounds like you are bursting to put some miles on it!

A tool hire place should do you one mate i would think,
Now i'm not saying 100% that its goning to be easy but myself and the father took the engine out of a mg midget and replaced it the same day at home.
Wasn't that hard a job just remember where everything goes.
And if fergus is felling a bit better then between the 3 of us....
Need to give me enough notice though dude. I'll pm you my number.
Sorry for the thread hijack lynott.

Thanks for all the good wishes. I am enjoying reading through all the threads/posts, old and new. Theres a good bit of 'banter' which is cool. Stephen I hope you have no copyright on Scooby Doo, Bertie and Mary as I have it as my desktop background since I spotted it a few weeks ago !

I don't think Eddie Jordan would mind - he has been out of the limelight recently
Maybe to make sure he isn't upset you could deck the car in the appropriate livery....
