Cork to Mongolia in a Lada

Postby K10 » Fri, 02 May 2008 1:42 +0000

Hey all.

Well, to explain my selling of MX5's (only one of them, keeping the other) and lack of posting here lately:

Myself and my girlfriend are heading off this year on the Mongolia Rally. We will be driving a Lada Niva 15,000 miles Across europe to Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Mongolia. We'll take a break of about 2 weeks in the capital of Mongolia, Ulaan Bataar to recharge the batteries and then head home again through Russia to St. Petersburg, then into Finland and sweden and then home to Cork again.

We did the Mongol Rally last year in a Nissan Micra and made it. We collected over €3500 for our charities. This year it's going to be bigger and better and we're going to try to collect lots more, by doing it in a crappier car & covering more miles.

Here's some pics from last year:

Sooooo. take a look at our website:
http://www.corkmongolia.com

And SPONSOR US. It's all fopr charity, it's secure & quick and you can donate as little as £2. Go on Go on Go on. Click the link at the right of our page.

We'll make it to one of the MX5 meet-ups in little island and anyone who has donated will be given a permanent marker to send their message to Mongolia on the body of the Lada.

Thanks,
Kealan & Claudine

Are the batteries in a lada that dodgy?

Best of luck with the adventure :D

Cheers John. Lada isn't as bad as they say....

It is pretty bad though. Drives like a tractor.

Work on it is progressing well though. NCT at the end of this week hopefully:
