dealers and their attitude

Postby witless_steve » Thu, 26 Jun 2014 1:07 +0000

I'm looking to buy a newish car, have a decent budget (15k) and have approached a few dealers about what they have to suit my needs.

The response has been underwhelming.
I read people saying dealers are importing cars, are looking for business and are in some cases even ordering stuff to meet a customer order.

Me? Nope. What you see on the forecourt is what we have on hand here. Have a look on Carzone to see if there is anything similar on the market.

Am I the only one who gets this response from dealers or did I just get a couple of very bored dealers?

Sounds fairly disheartening.. What kind of car are you going for? I know exactly what I would be doing if I had that kind of money for a car, and it wouldn't be going through an overpriced dealer.

I bought a 15 month old Seat Exeo with 14k on the clock in England for £11k not sure if this would leave you enough for vrt but definitely worth a look. Why pay a dealer for something you can do yourself.

Would you not take a trip up north and see what they have? cut out the middle man, but still be on the same island as the dealer if something goes wrong.

I would certainly look into importing it myself.
Amazed at how lazy dealers were.
Maybe they got used to cars selling themselves and have no idea how to sell.

In an ideal world I am looking for a 2009+ MX5 roadster coupe. Possibly the 2 litre sport tech but will see.
