Window tint

Cracked and faded rear window tint

pretty poor looking

trying to remove the tint was a right pain as I could only pick a tiny bit at a time

thanks to YouTube I found a way to soak the tint using a sheet of plastic liner and household cleaner, shape the plastic to fit the window, soak the tint with the cleaner (cif actifiz) and place the plastic on the glass, leave the car outside in the hot sun for 20min then peel off the plastic bringing the tint with it. As we don’t have any sun I used a heat gun , the tint didn’t come off with the plastic but it was softened enough to be able to peel it off

where I had picked bits off the glue was left behind, tried panel wipe and thinners put still couldn’t clean the glue, as they say, never throw anything away, found a bottle of Targ graffiti remover that I got about 10 years ago, after a few minutes there’s no more glue

bottom half removed in one piece

done.

Now the question is , do I leave it clear or get it properly tinted

Might give Autolux a shout next week, no harm to find out the cost before thinking too much about it

Don’t know really, I suppose it’s because it was already tinted , might add a bit if style to it if it were done.
For some reason I was thinking of a light tint on the door glass and a medium tint on the rear

If I ever get my hands on a hard top I'll definitely be tintin it. I would only do this on a black car.
