Mx5 camber bolts.

I got a full set of 1L wishbone bushings that I'm going to attack in the near future. I was planning on getting a couple of spares but should i just replace all the camber old bolt sets as good practice ?
A couple of the nuts look very crusty and might need the angle grinder and punch removal technique ?

Also what is the procedure for reassembly and realignment ? what do I need to maker or record settings prior to removal. Or will I just reassemble all and leave a full alignment to the shop afterwards ?
I will def need a full alignment , will a rough set up be fine for driving a few mile into the alignment shop ?

I might drop the rear subframe too for refurb, il see how the front end go first

If you're going to be removing the wishbones its the ideal time to replace the camber bolts, when I did mine some of them snapped, if you do break any I have a few if you're stuck.
I set my tracking / camber using the string method for the alignment and a plumb Bob for camber, that should be fine for you to get basic setting. As a rough guide you can set the centre mark on the bolts to the center of half moon on the subframe. Your biggest challenge might be finding a tyre centre that has the know how to set the geometry properly and not like I have been told that there's something bent because they couldn't understand why there's so much adjustments needed.

OK great thanks for that guide.
ill have ago at the fishing line & plumb method (might be months away yet, no rush, I don't think it will get on the road this year so i can tip away at a few more jobs).

I saw this alignment done at rally service parks over the years and was always intrigued by it. Mind I ask how do you adjust the camber / castor once set up ? where is the adjustment it it twisting the bolts or torqueing them down more ? I take it you don't final do torque until on 4 wheel ?
Another what direct to rust primer did you use ? will be doing the same.

I saw a full set of genuine 8 x castor bolt from skid nation for 130euro or 10$ stg each from Mx5 parts and play the customs roulette !! not sure , I better get the full set anyways.

yep, twisting them changes the settings as the disks on the bolts are offset. *edit* see in the pics in Pops' latest post
Def worth having at least a few spares around if not a new full set, its likely some will snap.

Ok makes sense, so you twist the bolt as opposed to torqueing the lock nuts, i coud'nt get my head around it.

I think i have the Haynes manual at home too, thanks for the scans. They will be scrutineer later.
