Looks like a great project Fergus fairplay to you, really liking that ILM front bumper you dont see many of them about.
Just wondering about when you say your going to paint the car later in the year when it gets warmer are you going to paint it yourself as mine is going in to be resprayed in 2 weeks hopefully.
Anyway spent some of the day rubbing down my front bumper its amazing all the imperfections it shows when you dry it off.

Yeah I'll be painting it myself.
Once you start sanding you start to see just how bad the original paint work is. Get all the prep work done PERFECT, it makes a huge difference to the end finish.

What did I do today?

Tried starting the '5. Whu-whu-whu-click, battery dead. Been away a week - have noticed it was getting weaker & weaker. Went shopping in wifey's Golf instead. Later, jumped it off the Golf, then took it for a spin to charge the battery (& cos I was bored). Did some handbrakers in a car park.

Got home & checked out the prices of gel batteries on MX5Parts. Think I'll tot up some other parts (oil filter, spark plugs, fuel filter) to get while I'm shelling out big money on postage. Why don't they have a January sale?
No more Mk1, now driving an '08 Mk3. Still fun!

You can get the gel battery in Ireland you know.
Ms5Parts are probably not back at work until tomorrow the 5th, as most places are all off until then over there. I'd say they'll have a sale soon :D

As the saying goes Ollie - good things come in small packages!

Was that the first wash since the picture on the "is this the dirtiest car..." thread - I thought you had entered a ploughing championship or some similar popular Midlands pastime.

Admittedly Graham, it has been the first wash in a while.
Its been in the shed under a blanky.
Anyways, new year now and the days are getting longer - we'll have a run soon hopefully.

Replaced My slave cylinder and clutch fork Boot.

Parts were sitting in my shed for the last year. Didn't think it would be so easy :)

Yesterday I fitted this http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info. ... cts_id/126 to my '5. Took maybe 20 minutes including fiddling about. Used a cable tie to hold the wiring to the boot hinge. It looks a good product, but I'll know its real value in a fortnight.

Oh, and a coupla weeks ago I fitted a new Westco battery after my wet battery gave up the ghost, 6 years on. It's great.

Next (or rather when I get round to it) I've a fuel filter to fit (Frank, do you remember suggesting a new fuel filter to me about 6 years ago?!)

Also, she needs a proper wash, wax & polish...
