No quite done all this today....
Started off with me going out last Sunday morning to give the callipers a quick lick of paint, Then decided that i would take them and the brackets off and get them shot blasted before painting them (thanks Dave), Whilst they were off I thought may aswell get new seals and strip and rebuild them, I also got new discs from mx5parts when they were on special offer so had these to fit, But thought it would be a shame for them to rust on the none contact areas as they all do so i gave these a coat of zinc paint (hope it can stick the heat).
Callipers have been given a couple of coats of black high temp paint and are now fully back together and mounted on the car.
Just have to refill and bleed the whole system tomorrow and see if its all ok.

Eventually - after it rolling around my boot for a year, I finally fitted my fuel filter - jsus got a fright with the petrol started pouring out - thank goodness for the golf tees I bought - also had a problem unplugging the old filter - still job done also changed spark plugs - treated myself to a magnetic spark plug socket and glad I did as there a long way in and would'nt like to lose one.

Front end refurb continues.. bought poly bushings for the front control arms.

Time consuming job.. involving ball joint popping :

& burning bush(ings) :

2 done :

its v.time consuming/messy/smelly burning them out, use the threaded bar method if you ever have to do it!

It was a real struggle to get the first bush in ... ended up putting it in boiling water for 10 mins and it softened up enough to go in (it was still difficult enough..)

Driver's side back together :

Took the passenger side control arms off afterwards, think I'm going to chicken out and see if a local garage will press out the old/in the new bushs for me... ;-)

Also found the reason for the slow leak I've had..

large socket (36 I think) and a threaded bar that will fit through the bush a couple of nuts and washers. Homemade bush puller/pusher. Cost 25 euro or so.
Makes the job of getting the bushes out and in a doddle. Well worth the money.

I changed the break pads back and front, it took a bit of figuring out at first. Getting the cylinder back on the rear caliper requires an 6mm allen key but once you do it once the whole job should take less tan an hour.

Finished installing the bushings, feels FAB so far but still needs an alignment,
then tore into the Heep today and replaced the leaf springs :
