10-4 good buddy.....;-) CB's for the ring trip!

Postby Stig » Mon, 15 Feb 2010 11:39 +0000

Going to fit a CB to my car for the ring trip, it'll be great to keep in constant touch on the move for the RING trip and runs this year in general. Not having to text or call whilst roaming will be great on the ring trip - and the crack will be good .
I know Ivans going to get one and others are interested -
but what to get ?

thoughts on this , maybe do a group buy? -

Is ther an integrated speaker on these? Will it be audible with the roof down at 85mph on the autobahn? :?

That one you posted Ollie is a bit on the dear side..I've requested quantity rates on 10 different models from 10 different sellers on e-bay..watch this space.

John

Dunno if you can take the ext speaker output and put it through an amp?? or aux input on stereo?? You'd have to make sure the signal going to the stereo wasn't too strong or you could damage the amp/speakers.Headphones/earphones could probably be utilised also, using the ext speaker output

Thats a neat one, quite compact and can be powered from cigar socket, a lot of the CBs need to be direct wired. Comes with an aerial which can add £15/£20 to the price. Speaker could be the only problem, the mic generally has an intergrated one but this wouldnt be ideal. Would be interested if we can get the speaker issue resolved.

I've survived this long without one john.
Just getting it for the ring trip as it will save back the cost of the unit
on not making so many phone calls.
In ireland it does not matter.

Not being negative John, it's a great idea in theory, but I can't see CBs working to well in our cars. They are bad enough in regular saloon type bodies with lots of grounding and places to stick the butt ugly arials!

We live in a hilly hilly country folks and luckily most of our runs are bendy and twisty, wireless doesn't like this kind of terrain and the freqs most of these CBs use wont have a lot of umph although if we all drive up close it would be great!

I could of course be wrong here, but have had a wee bit of experience in both cbs from base stations and with fixed wireless.
