Washed it, cleaned out the inside, took apart the passenger window mech and cleaned it all and re greased it. Better than it was but still a little slow compared to the drivers side after it was cleaned. Maybe the cables are stretched?

Well, first I had to warm the oil by going for a spin with the top down.

Then I changed the oil.

Then I went for a spin with the top down.

Then I decided to change the plugs. Which I started to do before realising how far away the plugs are from the cam cover.

So I went went for a spin with the top down - to get an extension yokey so the spark plug socket could actually reach the spark plugs.

Then I changed the spark plugs.

Then I needed to check the car still worked. So I went for a spin with the top down.

It's been a very pleasant day.

Who'd have believed it?? Still able to drive top-down in mid October??

If global warming is responsible for this then throw another oak tree on the fire!!

(Tongue firmly in cheek here before, the tree-huggers have a go at me)

finally got my EXHINTAKE mod done. Car pulls way better right up to limiter cutting in. Gonna play aroung with some different intake timing settings to get the best out of it. Well worth doing for a very cheap 10bhp. Oh, cut the valve cover too to reveal the pulleys. Looks like an old Cosworth BDA now. Pictures when i paint the pulleys.

yes its the best mod ive done so far. The yanks reckon on 8-12 rwhp but theirs have less lift on the intake cams. Its well worth doing. Only works on the 1.8 tho.Takes about 2-3 hours.

Reached another stage in the dismantling of my beloved mk1..the front sub-frame came out. Now all that's left of it is the rear suspension and remaining body shell( minus the doors).and the rear lighting harness.
The big angle-grinder awaits!!

Took it out of the garage, and took pictures.
Bought it a couple of years ago as a rebuild project...but alas...plans have changed and emigration calls.
So...tis for sale having never gotten to use it:(

Ah Jeremy, that's a pity. i assume it's posted in the for sale section?

Best wishes for the future, wherever it happens for you.

Last one out, turn off the lights please.
