What did you do to your MX5 today ?

Postby TommisBoo » Tue, 15 Oct 2013 5:42 +0000

Hi there,

So after driving my mx for 6 months decided to do few things on it, started with adjustable coilovers(pictures to follow).

Next up is back box with dual tips, hard top or soft top, which ever comes first and the last will be the new paint job!

P.S.

New white clocks fitted too ;)
Thanks to autocheck. Image

Titanium Grey. Farrari rosso. Midnight blue. Stealth black would be funky.
luminous green for your inner child :-)

Ferrari Rosso... Its sound quite expensive just by its name i think:( i wanted Lambo orange ( don't recall the exact name now) its orange and pearl, i was quoted just under 1.500 yoyos just in paint and lacquer i didn't even ask bout the labour!

Cant decide what to do, in the morning i want to respray in something bright and awesome, but then in the evening i want it to be Dark and Mean:!
I have till 1st of december to decide bout the colour....

Research done! The Thermochromic paints (Temperature change) have a LOW UV TOLERANCE without proper protection, so for exterior paint, use a clear coat like Alsa's sunscreen clear or Dupont's hc7776. No warranty can be given, as this is a new product and what you topcoat it with will determine its longevity and endurance to UV rays. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PROLONGED OUTDOOR USE.

Bit more progress on the undersealing over the weekend.
Started peeling/scraping back the existing underseal in all the spots where it was slightly raised and found surface rust under it. Wire brushed/scraped it back, treated with ferrozine, let dry over night and undersealed. Small bit at the back to finish, then the main floor bit needs to be done, which should be much easier as its flat.
The boot floor photo makes it look worse that it actually was, its a HDR photo, it was surface rust only.

Before, during and after :
