Cat Bypass/Replacement Pipe

Right, need to replace the cat (as I've destroyed the studs on the original cat), there seems to be 2 to choose from:

Straight through cat bypass from Mx5mad

They're both pretty much the same price (50 pounds, which is a bit steep), any reccomendations on which one to go for? I presume there's no difference in power gain, but does anyone have one, what's the sound like? Also, has anyone managed to find one cheaper anywhere? It's only a bit of pipe with 2 flanges, so woulnd't be surprised if it can be found cheaper somewhere.

I got a stright through pipe from mx5parts and it was about the same price.
Sound wise the difference isn't huge from stock, just a nice little rumble not at all chav.

Ash, If I was to try quietening my exhaust would this be worth a try...... I currently have a straight pipe (no silencing)

A cat would make a difference to your noise levels aright, not sure it will get rid of the buzz though. might be worth a try.
Did you try beating the box that is ratteling with a rubber mallet. I give mine a good whack a while back and it seems to have qiuetened it down a bit. (thinking behind this is that it is loose baffels/glass mat inside that when hit gets fully loosened and stops buzzing, i figured i had nothing to loose by hitting it)

yeah, did nothing for me, I might have to replace the de-cat and then look at the exhaust itself, I'm not a fan of load exhausts, but when you give my one welly it does sound beautiful,,,, it just when she's cruising at 3000 she sounds terrible

Which is unfortunate casue you probably spend a lot of time at 3000 rpm. I have a cat in the shed but not 100% sure it would fit. think it will thouigh <94 should be the same.
It has a stud broken on it but could be drilled out and replaced with normal bolt. Worth a try if you want to throw that on and see if it fixes your noise if it does then you can go a get a decent one. If not i'll stick it back in the shed as i have considered putting it back on mine to try and stop the buzz.

There is a welder here in Cork who will 'mod' your old cat and make it into a bypass pipe. He does it on an exchange basis, you give him your old one and he gives you one already modded.
