As mentioned, cleaning out the existing channels and re-lubricating does wonders. Don't forget to oil the cables as well.
That usual get's them moving smooth. Still won't be a quick as the new spurious ones though....they nearly take off !!

Just wondering is there a recommended grease/oil to do this job properly.

Thanks in advance.

Got a puncture.......

.... and it led to a rather pointless 2 hours or so of cleaning!

When the rim was off I noted the general dirt and brake dust on the inner side of the rim...... so when I got the car back home it was out with a jack and axle stands......

How the rim looked:

Gave it a dose of Wonderwheels to loosen things up:

Which left it looking like this:

Another dose of Wonderwheels had it pretty clean, but still some tar spots - so a small amount of cutting paste was used:

Finally a quick coat of this stuff, to make future cleaning (ie. NCT time!) much easier - and buff it off:

So a quick "before and after" comparison:

....Yes, it was a slow day!!!!!

There seems to be mixed reviews on the Toyos .
I got a pair of Michelin pilot sport 3 fitted today so am looking forward to seeing how the fair in comparison to the rain sports 3 , first impressions are that the car is less "wobbly " I'm putting it down to the stiffer sidewall of the Michelin.
I'll have a better idea in a few weeks

It's early days yet but so far the Toyos have ruined the taught feel of the car. I've since been reading some of the reviews and others have mirrored my thoughts. It feels as if I'm driving with flat tyres and that's with 30 PSI. Rain Sport 3's were my initial choice.......I should have stuck to those !!
