These lights off eBay
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201588217550
They are just about thin enough to put one above the mirror, the wiring can be tucked into the windscreen trim & down the pillar behind the trim.
For me, I found a live on one of the blank switches that is only live with parking lights. A earth can be found in a suitable place.
A previous owner fitted a rear fog light which was disconnected but the wiring was left in place as far as the boot hinge (with a button switch on the dash) , so I connected the lights to this .
If I was to do the interior light again I would wire it differently. ... connect the light to a permanent live (fused)and have a switched earth, as in one earth through a switch and the other through the earth from the door switch,( both earths can be found at the back of the original interior light , so then the light would work as a normal interior light.

Great work.. I think it's a good idea having the lights on a switch, my mk2.5 had boot lights that would come on when the boot opened which I hated because you couldn't keep the boot opened for extended periods of time for fear of killing the battery.

The injector seals were pretty hard compared to the new ones, I can now hear the fuel pump running where I couldn't before, changed it a few days ago , seemed to give more power but still think it's not up to full power, will see over the next day or two if doing the seals make any difference . The new gear-lever boot might lower the road noise, still trying to setup the coilovers, a Effin nuisance they are, now on probably the fourth attempt, now removed all spring preload and set the front damper to full hard & rear to medium hard . Will see over the next few days if the changes work. Anyway, all this work gives me reasons to keep test driving it

Car started to run crap , when looking for the problem one of the injectors looked damp compared to the others so I thought that the rubber seals had gone hard, they are harder than the new ones so worth replacing anyway ( every bit of rubber seems hard on this car) so I ordered a new set 6 or 8 weeks ago but only got round to fitting them now, at the same time I thought the fuel pump wasn't working properly ( couldn't really hear it working), anyway the fault turned out to be water down the plug leads in the cam cover, must have been when I power hosed the engine .
Cant wait till santa brings me a timing light so I can set the timing properly, at the moment it's set by ear after changing the o ring

Fited a set of Mesiter-R coilers over the holls, the fronts were an absolute fucker to get out, the rears were a piece of cake altogether, prob took about 6-7 hours with myself and a buddie at it , a few beers probably didn't help progress. An aldi impact gun made life a whole lot easier overall. Only victim along the way was a drivers drop link but ive it bodged in for now and a replacement ordered, first impression good, will need to re raise the ride height a bit again as its not nearly clearing bumps , and pullling left now,m so need alignemnt too, will leave it a coupelf of weeks to settle first. I also need to do some under coatng as the inners have plenty of surface rust setting in
