No matter what I always think theres going to be something! Thats brilliant. I love that feeling, I feel very impressed with myself when my car manages that - I take all the credit!!!

Doing a timing belt, water pump and seals to a short nose crank engine over the holidays.

A good way to spend time over the hols. Engine looks nice and clean.

I started cleaning mine up for the impending NCT (well, it's a few weeks away) - and am looking for the source of an oil leak.... pics and query to follow!

Gasha, it’s nice to be able to do the work yourself, that way you know it’s done properly.
Mrges,if your oil leak is on the passenger side it might be the same as mine, leaking (more like sweating) from the head gasket

Picked the car up from the mechanic today at last, he had a fairly decent reason for taking so long, he's missing half a finger since I saw him last... ouch.
In the taxi on the way, I remembered that the NCT expired in Nov while it was in the garage, I checked the NCT website for a vacancy, Yup, one in the afternoon, so I booked it.

Exhaust manifold gasket/studs changed (one retapped), turbo to manifold studs and turbo to downpipe bolts changed. No more leaks hopefully.

Oh, passed the NCT too despite the tester having to jump start it in the carpark, whoops.

I spotted this in Halford's over the weekend - a dehumidifier of sorts for less than a tenner:

I put it into the Mazda yesterday and the condensated windscreen seems to have disappeared.
Then, I picked this up yesterday at the local music store - a brush for cleaning wind instruments:

It helped to clear the passenger side rear drain as it was clogged. A fair amount of water came out underneath once cleared. The driver's side was fine though !

What next ? Perhaps a pair of Kumho tyres to replace the crap quality items on the front.....

think I need something like that dehumidifier for my boot... I've no leaks (that I can find) but the floor and boot lid get wet with condensation this weather.

The boot of mine is the same. Up to now, I have been just airing it out on dry days.

I changed - well I mean I had someone here at work - change the seal on the boot for the same reason. I hardly ever open it buit any time it would be pouring wet. Changed seal. Drains cleared. Car was left in garage and dehumidifier put in and filled twice over a weekend. Thought job done. was away for Christmas. Back - have hardtop on it - car bone dry and boot lid all condensation. Just never seems different. I tried a version of those pads and found them good if the car was fairly dry first.

It has been a busy week ! The timing belt has now been changed, along with the water pump. I bought the kit from Jag Spares UK for around €95. Yesterday, I had a pair of Uniroyal Rainsport 3's fitted to the front.
Today saw a clean car again and I disinfected the roof to get rid of the green algae before sealing it with Fabsil.....

Now, if only I had tax and insurance !
