Just what i have read really mate, I know i shouldn't take it all as gospal but i have a feeling that there may be some truth in what they say

"From the reports I've read in engineering magazines High intensity discharge lights require a unique lense and reflector due to the 'bulb' lighting up at the ends of the filament as opposed to the middle as in a conventional wire filament. this throws a different light pattern at the reflector and tends to create a very bright spot near the car. This is not a good thing as the light projected further from the car is less intense, thereby giving the illusion that the headlights are better but actually reducing your real world night vision. It is illegal to use any lights in a dipped position that are not DOT approved and there are regulations regarding the use of main/driving lights too."

Re; Hids , i agree tho that retro fitting these new fangled yokes into old light fittings/lens etc probably don't work but my bro-in-law Steve was telling me about the dismal lights on his vauxhall vectra SRI, so i went on line and bought him a set of HID's (i owed him a flavour and I'm good like that :D )

He fitted them and is chuffed with them - said they are brill @ night and they transform the look of the front end of his motor.

Yup, thats true, but.. the kit I bought has a metal cap on the bulb, so the pattern should be the same as a halogen (also the reflectors have good cutoffs), so should be fine in regards to light scatter etc too (if they're not, they'll be coming out again! Theres nothing worse than having your retinas burned out by oncoming misaligned HIDs).

I haven't seen anyone on a forum say that they've converted back to Halogen yet... ;-)

In theory it looks good to me.. lower wattage for more light, less heat, longer projection, longer life... will see how it goes.

Fair eniough dude, Let us know how you find them. Doesn't really make a huge difference to me as i don't drive the 5 much and rarely at night but still interested in how it goes.

Yeah I've been really busy the last week finding/ordering more stuff.
Christmas has come early me thinks
The twin low pros are really something, very very high quality build and appear to be very strong.
Lots of other stuff laying around that I havent posted up, tripping over the damn things now.
This is going to be a major project.....makes me afraid sometimes just thinking about what the car is going to be like afterwards.
