Started today to get my Bay nice and clean! Plans include painting the cam cover, new HT leads etc etc
![]() ![]()
Put a clamp on my vibrating exhaust heatshield.
New inner tierods & anti-roll bar endlinks : viewtopic.php?p=12451#12451 Chrome Bonnet struts (well.. could only get the drivers side to fit... GAH! But it does the job on its own..)
Tomorrow.. (with luck) : rear end links + really leaky cam cover gasket
Turbo oil drain pipe :
Leaky halfshaft->diff seal : ![]()
You'll be glad of the new strut for the improved access to do the cam cover gasket Steve.
tell me, is the tube of instant gasket i spot there required when doing the cam gasket? Curious as I have that gasket ordered from mxparts myself? ![]()
Have never used it in the past Ollie.. but thought I would this time.. theres a couple of recommended spots..
http://www.miata.net/garage/valvecover/index.html If you haven't a torque wrench, tighten down the chrome bolts JUST ABOUT hand tight. They snap easily.
Thanks foir that Steve, yep, goit a torque wrench, never used it, will be the first job for it!
Whats the torque setting? ![]()
~5NM / 48inch/lb its very very light, no need for more as you only need the gasket squeezed a little to keep the oil in
arived in the post today -
oppps, wrong pic sorry - Camcover Gasket,AC Cobra style retro rear view mirror and some gubinzes!
Mirror will look like this when fitted.........Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ![]()
Changed the turbo's oil return line, it runs from the turbo, round the front of the engine and into a return port on the block. A fiddly thing to get at.. the intake brace has to be removed first (thats the knock sensor on the left, return line on right) :
Replaced/removed a few more pipes that had gone hard too.. (oooh matron) :
Relocated the clamp I'd put on the downpipe heat shield yesterday (it was still buzzing). Replaced cam cover gasket and repainted turbo to intercooler pipe Before :
After : ![]()
