P.S. 0.4 bar ;-)

Yeah PS me hole just say it straight out Steve

You're right of course 4 bar would kill everything. I always think I have a lot more money than i think too. A problem for an accountant

We didn't tighten the wastegate in the end. Don't remember why. Will see how it's running over the next week or so. Seems sweet. Took my old mum for a spin today and her first comment was. 'You were obviously working on the engine then' Bless her.

Hi all,

Just re-joined the forum after a couple of years out. Currently in the proces of buying my second MX5 and have looked at a '00 1.8 (00 MH 5). Anyone familiar with this car and any observations?

Tom

Think it was Simon who had that car, he also had a saab 900 turbo.
Always struck me as one who was very particular about his car.
He sold it on because of kids i think

I remember him on the cavan run because he drove a bit slow :)

Ordered timing belt kit and water pump kit from mx5parts.co.uk, hope to get these fitted next week...that'll be the front end kinda sorted...the back end is next..new handbrake cables and need to sort out a suspect bearing, hopefully not the diff, will probably need new discs as well...my credit card is melting here!!!
Picked up my diamond glaze from Ollie (Thanks btw Ollie) yesterday but I'll hold off on applying this until all the other jobs are done..will I get done by the Wicklow run on 13th??? Probably not but it's something to aim for

If I'm not done by 13th and I'm not working; I'm available as a navigator ....or else I'll be driving the "support" vehicle

Thanks Steve and Ivan,

That's the car and Simon is the chap selling it. Yes, it is a extremely clean car and it's good to hear that he was a slow driver as I was a bit concerned about a loose gear-nob. Thought it might have been a bit heavy on the gears. I've agreed a price and expect to collect it on Thursday.

Good to be back on the forum and to see some of the old acquaintances still in action. Hoping to meet up with everybody again soon!

Alas, I've been gazumped on 00 MH 5.

I shook hands on a deal on Thursday last and phone yesterday to say I'd collect on this Thursday - had to leave a message on his voice-mail. Last night, I got a text to say that someone else had looked and the car and bought it. Unfortunaely, I hadn't paid a deposit but the seller was happy enough with that and said he wouldn't show it to anyone else. So much for shaking hands on a deal and taking a persons word for it!

Now, I'm on the lookout for a good, clean, well looked after Mk 2. Anyone with any knowledge of one?
