Fitted the other chassis rail this evening and went for a quick spin in the car, WOW, what a difference...
Car is far more controlled over bad surfaces, is more stable on good roads, feels tighter round corners, a lot of rattles etc have gone,
Fantastic is all i can say. Get yourself some!!!!

Yep

you'll have to talk to steve/john about that, 2mm would be fine and lighter.

DO IT
Hassles getting them fitted?
Not the easiest job I've done on the 5 but not the worst (fitting the diff still wins that one!)
Moving the petrol lines is a bit of a pain, and if your scared of drilling your car then these ain't for you.

Nice one Ash.

Do you have acces to a ramp or were was the car just up on stands?

I'd imagine it would be handy enough if you had the car well up.

Were the holes tough to drill?

Did mine on jack stands, holes aren't difficult to drill (if you start with small bit).

JohnM was just waiting for feedback/confirmation on fit.

Is there likey to be an issue with the NCT guys if you have these rails fitted??
Do they not need to be able to visually inspect the chassis??

doubt it.. no more than other bracing.. you could argue that they are part of the chassis now I guess ;-)
local mechanic thought they were "the bomb" lol

Ho Hum, glad to see some Galway technology there

Anyhoo, 3mm fab was a (insert technical term: fubar..) 'deviation', and I did think they were a bit OTT, tbh.

So if someone wants them as 2mm sets, not a prob. If you've any feedback on hole positions, etc, let me know. If we use the 3mm, we can drill and tap the rails for those fuel clamps.

I see the comments about water retention  on the miata site, which I'd not disagree with -so can punch, plasma cut slots, holes, shapes to beat bad - just let me know where........

For simplicity' sake, it's better to run off a few rails together, so funnel ye're energy (€€ ) via Steve.
Quick! free up some money for your '5 buy an energy efficient house ! One swallow does not a Summer make....neither is it long enough to put your '5 back together....

to make them pay for themselves, these could be marketed over on Nutz. If ye got a decent courier cost for delivery anywhere in the uk, you'd potential get orders from nutzers too.
I'd be interested in hear about costs for my 5!
Thanks,

O.

Well if you could drill a hole for the fuel clamps it would be great. I can try to get some measurements of where i put mine or you could get them off steve as not sure mine are mounted in the best place.
I would think 2mm would be loads as they are quite heavy in 3mm.
The mounting holes are fine no issues with the position of any of them,
As for the holes for water, I guess you don't want to cut to much away
as it would only weaken them. Did you see the flyin miata ones

Not for a minute that i would suggest copying some one elses design but......
I must send steve on some money to pass on to ya, can you let me know how much?
Also can i get a free upgrade to the ones with holes if you go ahead with them
Especially considering all the work i''ve done with the trial fitment etc.
