Fitted new KYB AGX Shocks on the rear yesterday with the help of Ger. Makes a huge difference far better ride.

The drive back from Wicklow made me realise I need to do the fronts as well. Didn't realise how dead the shocks were until I got the new ones on

Yeah, every time I open the boot now that little plastic gasket will remind me I'm an idiot.

Thanks again for the help. I'm slowly clearing the kitchen of car parts

just back from donegal town after handing over 619euro to the dreaded revenue for passport for my 5. car first registered in japan in june 92, so was told not to apply for nct straight away as i would only be given cert till june 04 and then i would have to test her again. scam!

..fair play for them for telling you at least. Yeah, hang fire on that nct, you'lll only get points if you got a court prosecution from what I understand.
And you're right, it is a scam and a flawed mecanism, the first nct I got was only for 1 year and no one told me. :|

Steve, don't think the 3 month rule works in this case as it is effectively overdue its NCT now, so any test now will only cover the period up to June.

not intending putting car on road till april , tax for 6 mths then, and till i produce docket from customs to tax car and get the log book the car is not actually logged with nct. phoned nct today and was told if i leave till then i will get a 2 year test. from 2012 all cars over 10yrs to be tested every 2yrs. bad enough now, but there'll be some waiting lists then. by the way if you are stopped by gardai without an nct cert up, you are covered if you have a letter with a date for test.

very good Barney, was there many in VRT'ing stuff? Or is it quiet down there these days. btw- they will not send you out the log book until you tax the car (as you probably know already) They are some bunch of gretins  :cyclops:
what OMSP did they place on your car. Did they use the age old reliable process of licking a finger and sticking it in the air?

used their web-site to get figure and believe it or not an english car of the same age would have cost 230euro more to clear.all to do with emissions, jap 161g and english 211g. was there 10mins after they opened and i was the only one there, along with 3 of them. not gonna risk 3mths early, but will apply first week in april, hopefully in preperation for galway run, and when they give me a date i'll ask for a cancelation. i only live a mile from nct centre and the last time with marys car, because they don't notify that your nct is due i was late phoning and was given a date 2mths later, i asked for a cancelation and i was contacted the following morning at 9.30 for a test at 11. they can only do that if your car is already booked for a test.

A word of Caution. Just reading last weeks Northern Standard and see that a poor bugger was stuck with a €250 fine for not have a roadworthyness certificate, NCT disc, displayed on his car.

ok if you've applied but can't get an appointment for a while. not your fault if they're not efficient. as long as you have the appointment you're ok. because they don't send a reminder anymore a lot of people don't know that they are due a test. my own mother was out of test in dec and i only spotted it two weeks ago. can't get a date test till march 1st.

Was gonna recharge the K&N at the tech day, but decided to give it a go at home this evening..Mother of God, the amount of dirt that came out of it was unbelievable
Letting it dry now before re-oiling, wonder if I'll notice any difference in sound or performance when it's back on..probably not but at least now I know it's clean...I'd recommend the job to anyone with the K&N filter.
Now, if only I could get the rest of the engine cleaned as easily :?
