Would love to do this trip also. Have been following the thread and kinda waiting to see what's decided.

Personally, would prefer epic drive rather than lots of boat stuff. Also, will be on a budget so cheaper is better. I might have a co-pilot whom I would have to collect in UK so ultimately prefer that route.

But all in all, when dates are decided and when route / cost is worked out, I can throw my name in the ring (so to speak)...

Lads and lassies - sorry but up to my eyes with work - as Ollie said Sept is best for me - have a Communion in May, 20th Wed Aniversary early June and Eurodisney/Paris end of June - also as I don't like big boats - pref would be to go through UK back roads through Wales from Holyhead (HSS is only 99 mins - I could just about hack that)

Don't rule me out for early May, but pref is as stated.

How are we going to deciede when to go. May suits me but will have to know when, to make arrangements for work. If we are going overland and staying in UK overnight I will probebly take a detour to Autolink in Hants and pick up a second hand hard top and a few other bits and pieces but as it is by appointment only would need dates. Looking at the crashes on U-tube I may need a roll bar as well

OK it's the first week of may then.
Had a quick look last night the official ring dates have not been announced yet for may. But i'm sure it will be open.

The land bridge boats cost 270 euro return thats with the fast ferry 25 euro extra.

If we are looking at the first week in May, then the Ring times are important. From another post:

Monday, 03.05.10 17:15 until 19:30 h Touristenfahrten,
Tuesday, 04.05.10 17:15 until 19:30 h Touristenfahrten,
Wednesday, 05.05.10 12:15 until 19:30 h Touristenfahrten,
Saturday, 08.05.10 17:30 until 19:30 h Touristenfahrten.

Tues evening / Wed look possible there. If we were to aim to get there on Tues 4th, when would we have to leave? And assuming staying there Wed night and coming home on Thurs morning, what are the driving times?

Bearing in mind that Mon 3rd is a Bank holiday UK/Irl.

Maybe someone who is better at the ould logistics could work out a possible schedule around this week? Then we could get costs together?

Yes but those times are not on the official site for the ring, they are only
more than likley but not confirmed. Anyway the ring can decide to close
at any time for any reason. When i was there it was closed for resurfaceing.

We would want 3ish days there in case they decide to close it.
If we have had enough after one day, there are other things to do.

Leave here early morning
stay south of london for one night
on to ring next day
stay 2 nights
head back to cailias and stay there
next day home
