talking to a dealer in dublin a couple of yrs ago and he told me that used MH registered cars being traded into a dublin dealership were worth 20% less than most other registrations. the reason he told me was that dubs would not buy an MH registered car. he reckoned it was 2 things, football rivalry and the fact that most dubs think that all meath men are farmers

Non dublin regs are worth less, but it's more down to perception the the roads are worse in da country side and the cars are not looked after as good. Also try driving a non dublin reg in dublin city and you will be beeped at and cut up a lot more.

From what I've been told, the DL ones are to be avoided at all costs..apparently everyone up there is a rally driver

My eldest lad will soon be looking for his first car and as his initials are D.L. he's hinted that he would like to have one from that neck of the woods...I'm keeping out of it!!

heh true, a D plate doesn't necessarily translate to "better condition". High mileage : Repmobile.. (which has prob lived its life "down da cunnntry"), low mileage : then it's prob never been used properly and been in stop/start/slow moving traffic (not good for engine/clutch/brakes/etc) for its lifetime. </sweeping generalisation>
Its the condition of the particular car that would sell it to me, I'm not in Dublin so theres no extra beeping to fear (altho.. I'm pretty sure MO drivers get more than their fair share here).
Given the option of 2 cars in identical condition, one with a D & one with a DL plate.. I'd def go D, for resale if nothing else.
