Postby shaneh » Tue, 03 Jan 2012 2:55 +0000

my handbrake never worked. cable is intact and pulling the lever on the back of the caliper but
doesnt lock the wheels no matter how much i adjust it.
got some used calipers and theyre the same.
anyone have some for cheap or able to fix them?

hi there, ive had the same problem a while back, its the cam in the caliper seizes up,and you think its all moving but it isnt.

i had to soke in deisel, and put in new seal kits.
p.s,i see you said you got another set of calipers?

ive just driven a mx5 home from naas with no rear calipers! pipes just pinched off.

if your selling a pair of them ill take a pair.

thanks jay

inject diesel into the mechanism, and pop out piston, and undo the cerclip to free cam unit.

a dam,you let the calipers go.

ill keep looking

remove the bolt shown below (well... it has been removed in the pic ;-) ), then use an allen key (4mm I think) to turn the cam or remove the adjuster, dropping some oil in here usually does the trick for me.

This is what the adjuster in the hole looks like :

Have had 2 MX5s where the piston has been pushed out like you do with the front calipers, this strips the adjuster.
