Decided after a couple of weeks commuting with the new seats that I needed to do a foamectomy to lower my seat a couple of inches.
In other threads I see others have removed foam from the top of the seat base here:

To keep the shape of the seat and not have a saggy looking seat, I thought I'd try cutting off the hump at the bottom.

I cut an inch off first and put it back together, tested it, figured I'd need a little bit more, so another inch came off

Feels good, seat looks the same, much better.

moved doors and roof from old mx5 to the new one as the old body( temporarily, i hope) can rust away all it wants.

nearly gonna finish off taking out the wiring loom and hopefully thread it to the right places tomorow, as well as start taking out more bits from under the hood.

suspension is going to wait, need to get a butane lamp?? first to heat the metal around the bolts ( as they arent moving for now)

Thought you might be interested in this....
I cleaned my drain holes a couple of weeks ago and noticed a very obvious increase in road noise.
After a bit of a search on this and other forums I came to the conclusion that the small rubber flap
that acts as a none return valve in the drain was either inverted or now missing.....
So I shoved the snake eye camera up the hole as you do and low and behold it was there on the passenger side
and was pushed back on itself on the drivers side...... So out with the coat hanger and between the camera and
a jiggle it popped back into place..... Hey presto the road noise has gone...

I know this was my fault on the last drain clean pulling the trombone cleaner back on itself for a moment...
You can feel the valve if you stick your little finger in about an inch or so......
Any way lesson learned......

Changed the lower balljoint on one side, the two tie-rods also.

Took the interior apart and removed the parcel shelf and do-das in preparation for the new TR-Lane roll-bars. But it looks like there's some cutting involved, and no instructions/diagrams so I'll leave it until next as the car has its MOT next Saturday.

I cut a little bit out when I installed my roll bar but when it was in it looked like I didn't need to

Got a 4-wheel alignment done by Atlas in Drumcondra

http://www.atlasautoservice.ie/drumcondra

The guy there, Paul, is a Boards.ie member so came well recommended. Nice setup they have in Drumcondra, and their alignment job on my car is *super*. It's like driving a new car again. The Polish guys in Rathcoole were not able to get the car set up right, which had me worried, but now it seems that it's just 'know how'. I would use the Rathcoole guys for tyres and mechanicals, but for alignment I'd recommend Atlas.

What a p!sser of a day though, jeasras the car is a handful in this weather.

Got the old girl started today and gave Her a clean, found the boot full of water which was quickly traced back to the seal on the electric aerial. Quick swap to a manual one I had in the shed and it's all good.
