Very nice, have you had any problems with the number plate off to one side? NCT/ law etc, have been thinking of moving mine from the centre, or else a smaller plate

Hey Pops. No, I've never had any issues with the offset plate. The plate itself is a larger motorcycle plate with the mandatory "IRL" piece
and county on it so it seems to satisfy the regulations at the NCT centres. I have it fitted about three years now.

Thanks for that, mine is the same as yours except it's in the middle screwed to the bumper. I'm thinking of moving it as the engine seems very hot, thinking the size of plate is blocking airflow to the rad.
Nice to have some great weather for a while, makes it worth having a 5

I'm not sure where my number plate mount came from....I think I had it laying around from a previous MX5 that I had. But you could make
one up easily enough I reckon. I guess it is possible for a plate to block air flow to the rad so it might be no harm to make a change there.
If need be, I can give you the measurements of my plate if you require.
This angle will give you a better idea of the plate:

Hiya, I have the very same plates , that angle & position looks spot on , now I know my next bit of tinkering will be the plates.
Your car looks great in the pictures, you seem to use it for the right reason .
Thanks for the info on the plates
John.

Cheers John and no prob with the info. If you want any more info, give me a shout.
I have my current '92 a good few years now and had two or three others before that. When the weather is good, it's a tough call whether to take the
motorbike out or the '5 !! It has been used for holidays in the past too:

That trip was a camping trip around Luxembourg, France and Germany via the UK. The ideal car for it too !!

My top tip is to have your AC working and to insulate the gearbox tunnel against heat because in August on the continent it gets hot !

That's a pretty inventive luggage rack at the lower rear.....brilliant !!
We only used the boot space and passenger footwell. It was a tight squeeze but motorcycle touring has thought me to pack extra light :D
Unfortunately, my A/C doesn't work so it was roof down when it got very warm !

love the carrier, any issues with scraping getting on/off the ferry? Just curious as I've put together a carrier for the rear of my 4x4.
