Starter button!

Postby Stig » Mon, 08 Sep 2008 9:37 +0000

Hi,

I saw from other club memebers car that you can install a cool starter button in the hole the cigerette lighter holds in the Dash of my Mk1.

Question - what starter kit is the best?
is it hard to install? is there much wiring?

and, re; the ciggie lighter - can you re-position that in the car as it'd be good to have for mobile phone charger/sat nav power etc.

Any experience anyone?

Rgds,

Ollie.

heres my mx5nutz topic from a while ago...

http://www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19746&hl=

alot of nutz users have a zoom button, but it doesn't do it for me, when I get one, it'll defintely have to be the zoom, looks the best IMO.

I was thinking of installing the cig socket at the back of the cubby hole. or as I recall someone else doing (i think anto) putting one in the centre console box (with the boot release)....

Also see here for a guide to fitting a s2000 one....

I put one in a while back, bought it on ebay, theres loads of different types..

Something like this would work :

Lots of alternative buttons available on ebay too..

Was it a difficult install Steve?
would it suit a DIY'er?

yeah, easy enough if you do your research first. Have you Rod Grainger's manual? Its the bible IMO when it comes to the '5.

If you can follow a wiring diagram, you should have it done in under an hour easily.
