Door cards

Postby Steve » Wed, 09 Mar 2011 7:38 +0000

Bought some wood (B&Q < 4e) + leatherette (Hickey's < 10e), used old card/cover as templates

Much drilling + jigsawing later

The material is a close enough match

Fitted (still needs a clean)

You didn't go for the tartan then ;-)

No, no tartan, couldn't find the right blend, maybe next year :-)

Took about 6/7 hours over 4 eves, in hindsight I wasted too much time without a jigsaw + was way too particular about the wood/material shape cutting. I cut the material to the pattern of the old cover rather than just wrapping the new card and cutting off the excess/holes after it had been stapled down. If given a clear run at it I think it could be done a lot faster.

Looks well!
Recovered mine in diamond stitch vinyl last week, but wish i had made a new drivers side card like you did as mine is a bit warped!
