![]() Re: Importing Question !!You can contest the charge after payment.
Here is the procedure : http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/vrt/vrt-gu ... l#section6 It should be easy enough to obtain verifiable evidence on the 'net to support your case. Best of luck with it, let us know how you get on. Steve
![]() Re: Importing Question !!dont forget the transport costs coming from england.....
most transport companies will charge anywhere from £250 - £450 depending on where the car is coming from and being delivered to. ( ovbiously the further away , the more they charge)
Re: Importing Question !!my 5 cost €619 to clear in jan 2010. the open market value according to the revenue was €2582. is your car an automatic? you should have printed the quote and brought it with you.
Re: Importing Question !!Hi Guys
Thanks for the help. The car was bought here I didn't bring it in. I went today and they've put it down as a 1998 !!!!!!!!! That was the date it was imported into the UK so their mistake !! Hopefully now I've got the printouts I'll get a refund !! What should I be looking for on the underside of the car and are they common the V.Specials ?? Mel ![]() Champagne taste ........... ![]() Re: Importing Question !!there should be a little square silver plate on the bulkhead above the engine. it should have the engine code on it. the code is the first 5 letters/nos of the chassis no. mine is NA6CE. i made a mistake earlier with duty i paid. it was €722, 24% of €3012. yours should be around the same. when entering the info on the vrt calculator you will also need the year and month of first registration which should be on the log book and if you have already handed that in put 6th or 7th month on it. they put yours down as a 98 because that is when it was first registered in the uk. good luck
Re: Importing Question !!Hi Barney.
Yes mine's the same as yours. Na6CE. I did print off the VRT for mine which came to €757 but as you said thay put down the import date to the UK !! How can I confirm that it's a V.Special ? Is this a rare car or a common model ?? Just interested !! Mel ![]() Champagne taste ........... Lemonade money ...............
![]() Re: Importing Question !!just put in a june 1990 with 130,000kms and it came out at €757. gave me a statistical code 40180794. base price for jap imports more than 15yrs old is around €3000. cars first registered in uk have a base price of approx €2000
Re: Importing Question !!Hi Barney.
Yep that's the right price I hate being robbed !!! Unfortunately I didn't realise until they'd taken my money and tried to give me the 98 number for the plates !! So do you know about the V.Special model ?? Mel ![]() Champagne taste ........... Lemonade money ...............
![]() Re: Importing Question !!common model and will make no difference to vrt amount. i cleared a van recently and the girl at the nct centre doing the vrt hadn't a clue what she was looking for under the bonnet, so not a surprise that they can't read a log book.
